Dsquared2 Designers, Dean and Dan Caten, celebrated their 20th anniversary in the Fashion world and organized a big event, with the participation of Mary J. Blige, who gave a moving live performance of her success One, an spectacular closing for the event. The celebration took place on Friday night on 16 January and coincided with the presentation of men's collection.
As a retrospective exhibition, the chosen scenery was hangarBicocca, a large property of more than 60 meters high where Pirelli used to
have its old factories at the outskirts of Milan. In the lack of doors of such a
post-industrial place, a dark curtain waved by the wind let see "The seven
celestial Palaces", a work of German artist Anselm Kiefer. Seven grey
leaning "palaces", built with concrete board, iron and lead, which
trembled under noiseless shadows to celebrate 20 years of history with a
fashion show that reproduced their beautiful universe.
Rock inspiration and smart details that the duet always
offer in every catwalk were present. Leader jackets, vibrant colours, anarchic
glints, and the reinvented tuxedo were part of these first twenty years of
success. In its turn, the maxi-coats and caps, leader details, padded
waistcoats and lumberjack shirts also reminded of their Canadian origin. As for
denim, there were tight and worn out jeans with brown shades at the bottom. In
addition to this, leader and rocker style spirit in trousers and jackets with studs
or frayed edge jackets and waistcoats.
The rain could not wipe off the memories of 1,300 guests who
enjoyed the magic and moving night of Dsquared2.
