Jean Paul Gaultier is always known for having a statement-making show with a theatrical theme at any fashion week. Ironically, this year's theme at Paris Men's Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 was the lack therof. Meaning there was no runway show. Instead, the show was a mix of photoshoot and walkthrough, where someone announced each model's duds with all details including fabric, color, and more. There was no theme binding the pieces whatsoever--perhaps that's what made it special. Models themed to be defined by their outfit rather than the designer's theme running throughout the collection. One was a Hawaiian print shirt, another a trench with jeans. A third look was tough biker with black leather pants and a matching leather jacket. It was very different from anything Gaultier has ever done, to say the least.
